The Big Weight Loss Lie: Why You Don't Lose Weight Despite Dieting

It was on the day of my 48th birthday, when I stood in front of the mirror crying.

Another diet failed.

Once again I bought a dress that I had to return.

And that, while I had been consuming only 1,400 calories per day for months .

“There's something wrong with me,” I thought.

“It can't be that I'm the only one at the table who goes without everything – and still doesn't waste anything! ”

Today, three months later, I have lost 10 kilos.

My energy level is at its highest it's been in years.

And for the first time in a long time, I feel good in my body again.

How did I achieve that? The answer will surprise you.

Hi, I'm Barbara. And I know exactly how you feel.

After my pregnancy 10 years ago, I struggled with those extra 20 kilos that just wouldn't go away.

If you're reading this article, you probably know this struggle all too well.

That endless spiral of:

  • The latest trend diet
  • The acclaimed slimming shake
  • The “revolutionary” fitness program

At first the pounds fell off. And then? Stagnation. And eventually more weight than before.

I don't have to tell you what that feels like. That shame. That despair. That sense of failure.

But here comes the truth:

YOU have not failed.

YOU are not too weak.

YOU are doing nothing wrong.

The reason for your weight problems does not lie in your eating habits.

Instead, it could be a silent torment that millions of European people suffer from – often without knowing it.

I know this because I obsessively counted calories for two years.

1,400 a day, protein shakes, salad, starving.

The scale? Didn’t move an inch.

Today I know why nothing worked. And even better: I know the solution.

In just 12 weeks I have:

  • Lost 10 kilos permanently
  • my blood values improved
  • got more energy than when I was 30

The best part? I didn’t have to starve or turn my life upside down.

I have put my heart and soul into this topic over the past few years and have been searching like crazy for a solution to my problem.

I now want to share my insights with the world. Because I am sure it will help you too.

So far I have been able to maintain my target weight effortlessly

How did I come to this discovery and what does it mean?

Not only have I tried every diet possible, I have also eaten vegan for 5 years.

But every single diet failed.

With the best diets I lost a lot of weight in the first few weeks, but after that I either stopped losing weight or the infamous yo-yo effect set in.

You probably know how frustrating that is.

It feels like there is a handbrake on somewhere in my body that prevents me from losing weight.

But that wasn't all: I also felt increasingly tired and weak.

It was quite difficult not to get into a downward spiral here.

With great difficulty I dragged myself to the gym twice a week.

But nothing got better.

I had already given up hope and resigned myself to my fate.

But sometimes the most important answers lie where you least expect them.

For me it was a class reunion.

The class reunion that changed my life

I used to be on the volleyball team, play tennis and attend every sports event.

And now? 20 kilos more on the bones.

I felt all the more nervous at the thought of the upcoming reunion.

What would my former classmates think of me?

The Barbara who suddenly looks 20 kg heavier?

But sometimes it's the moments we fear the most that turn our lives around.

At the class reunion I sat next to my then best friend Sabine.

After graduating from medical school, she had studied medicine and met her husband Oliver – a renowned nutritionist from the US, who was now practicing in Berlin.

When I told her about the phenomenon that I had not been able to lose weight for months despite a calorie deficit, alarm bells immediately went off for her.

That sounded familiar to her.

Her husband Oliver had already had to deal with this many times. For him it was anything but surprising.

Sabine then kindly offered me to come to her husband's practice.

I did that a week later.

The surprising diagnosis that changed everything

Oliver welcomed me warmly into his practice and then got straight to the point.

When I told him about my many failed attempts to lose weight, Oliver immediately came up with his suspicions.

He explained that in patients who do not lose weight despite a calorie deficit and who also often feel tired, in 9 out of 10 cases the metabolism is the cause.

And one organ in particular is responsible for metabolism:

The liver.

That's why Oliver had me do an extensive blood test first.

Two weeks later I was back with him in his practice in Amsterdam.

I will never forget this moment.

With shaking hands, I held my blood results.

My liver values showed something I didn't expect:

  • Gamma-GT: 49 U/l (clearly elevated)
  • ALT and AST: At the upper limit
  • Cholesterol and triglycerides: Slightly elevated

Elevated gamma-GT, AST and ALT levels may indicate fatty liver disease.

The diagnosis: A fatty liver.

To be honest, I had no idea what that meant.

In my mind, fatty liver was something only alcoholics get.

How wrong I was.

Oliver enlightened me: Fatty liver is the silent epidemic of our time.

One in four British people suffer from it – most of them without knowing it.

Because the classic symptom – a feeling of pressure in the right upper abdomen – often only occurs with advanced fatty liver.

Much more common are symptoms such as failed weight loss attempts despite calorie deficit, dry and itchy skin, excessive sweating and  constant fatigue.

Fatty liver is divided into three stages:

  1. Fatty liver without inflammation: In this case, there is usually no pain, because the liver has no pain receptors.
  2. Steatohepatitis or fatty liver hepatitis: A fatty liver with inflammatory reaction. Feeling of pressure in the upper abdomen, bloating and frequent feeling of fullness are among the symptoms of this stage.
  3. Liver cirrhosis: From here on the disease is no longer reversible!

It is estimated that nearly half of all stage 1 patients will progress to stage 2.

Overweight people in particular often suffer from fatty liver.

And it's the number 1 secret fattening agent.

Why? Because the liver is our metabolic center.

Imagine the liver as a giant recycling factory.

Normally, it sorts everything we eat: fats are burned, toxins are excreted, hormones are regulated.

But with a fatty liver, this sorting system no longer functions properly.

The “workers” (our liver cells) are completely overloaded.

What happens then:

  • Fats are no longer burned properly
  • The metabolism slows down
  • Toxic substances accumulate
  • The body stores more fat

The liver values and their meaning

In my case, the liver values spoke a clear language.

If the gamma-GT value is elevated (in my case it was 49 U/l), this is a sign of a fatty liver.

If ALT and AST are elevated, one is often already in stage 2 – an inflamed fatty liver.

However, one should also be careful with liver values: even if the values look good, one can suffer from a fatty liver. The cholesterol value in particular is often misunderstood.

That's why Oliver recommends paying attention to your symptoms first .

Unexplained weight gain, or persistent belly fat despite calorie deficit, as well as severe fatigue even after adequate sleep are among the symptoms.

Often, fatty liver is a result of unhealthy diet or taking strong medications to treat other diseases.

In medical terms it is called NAFL – non-alcoholic fatty liver.

Sugar also plays a major role.

Oliver showed me the following study about this.

This study showed that high consumption of fructose and sugar can lead to fatty liver and even disrupt the gut microbiome.

The problem with that? Nowadays, it is almost impossible to avoid sugar and sugary substances.

The food industry now “hides” sugar in the ingredient descriptions of many foods.

There, instead of sugar, one finds words like maltose, lactose or corn syrup.

Even seemingly healthy foods such as granola bars or various light products fall victim to this.

Yes, even too much fruit or smoothies promote a fatty liver.

Because the fructose in it is converted into sugar and later into fat.

What an irony: people buy a light yogurt with extra little fat to eat healthy, and in the end only promote fatty liver disease because of the added sugar!

"An unhealthy diet, lack of exercise or another illness can cause the so-called non-alcoholic fatty liver to develop." - University Hospital Zurich

Suddenly everything made sense:

  • Why I Didn't Lose Weight Despite Eating 1,400 Calories
  • The constant fatigue
  • The full feeling after eating
  • The bloated belly

My body was like a car driving with the handbrake on.

No matter how hard I pressed the gas pedal (eat less, exercise more) – the handbrake (fatty liver) prevented any progress.

Oliver also explained to me why the many diets had made the situation even worse.

Radical diets are pure stress for the liver.

And a stressed liver stores even more fat – a vicious circle.

The frustrating thing: in the normal blood tests at the GP, the most important liver values are often not tested at all.

That's why so many people live with a fatty liver for years without knowing it.

The good news: fatty liver is curable.

The liver is the only organ in our body that can completely regenerate itself.

You just have to give it the right tools to do so.

Summary so far:

  • 20-30% of all people in Europe have a fatty liver. Overweight people are particularly affected by this.
  • Constant fatigue, dry skin and itching, as well as problems losing weight despite a calorie deficit may be indications of a fatty liver.
  • Obesity is related to liver health. A sluggish, overworked liver causes more fat to be stored in the body, even if you don’t consume too many calories.
  • Without a healthy liver, it is incredibly difficult to maintain or lose weight.

Fatty liver can be cured

According to Oliver, curing a fatty liver is actually quite simple. Some of his patients even succeed in doing so within a few weeks.

However, one should not rely on conventional treatment methods, as these often only make the problem worse.

Liver fasting: Sounds logical at first – eat less, less fat. In reality, however, it is pure stress for the liver. During a two-week fasting cure with mainly vegetables and protein powder, the liver is even more stressed. The result? An even worse metabolic function.

Radical diets: An 800-calorie diet or other extreme forms of nutrition lead to a survival mode in the body. The liver then stores even more fat as an emergency reserve – exactly the opposite of what we want.

Statins (cholesterol-lowering drugs): These prescription drugs only manipulate cholesterol levels, but do not help break down fatty liver. Worse still: studies show that they can reduce important nutrients such as coenzyme Q10 in the body.

Instead, one should actively supply the body and liver with nutrients that support the liver in detoxification and regeneration.

Unfortunately, a healthy diet alone is not enough to cure a fatty liver.

Our liver has the amazing ability to heal itself – but without the right nutrients, it lacks the building blocks for regeneration.

That's also why so many people fail.

They do not understand that a change in diet alone is not enough to effectively regenerate the liver.

What our liver really needs is a combination of three things:

  • Special active ingredients that support natural detoxification
  • High-dose nutrients that accelerate the regeneration of liver cells
  • Herbal active ingredients that promote the breakdown of stored fats

The good news: nature has already provided us with all these active ingredients.

It just comes down to using them in the right combination and dosage.

Oliver uses a specially developed fatty liver treatment for this purpose.

The Fatty Liver Detox Method

The fatty liver detox method was specially developed by Oliver for people who can no longer lose weight because of their liver.

Not only is the fatty liver broken down, but other organs that are conducive to effective weight loss are also strengthened.

This also includes, for example, the often underestimated bile.

The special thing about it: you don't have to struggle through a diet and the method is based on 100% natural ingredients.

The focus is on a normal, balanced diet and in addition, the power of nature is used by making targeted use of milk thistle, artichoke and dandelion root.

These natural substances have been used for liver health for centuries.

What follows will surely amaze you.

Because the above-mentioned plants have already been studied in scientific studies in connection with fatty liver.

And the results are absolutely astonishing:

Milk Thistle

Milk thistle is a true miracle plant when it comes to liver health.

It belongs to the antioxidant medicinal plants. This means that it neutralizes free radicals and reduces oxidative stress.

With regard to liver health, milk thistle has now been very well researched.

Particularly noteworthy here is the following research paper from Italy:

The following conclusions could be drawn from the studies:

  • Milk thistle promotes the excretion of old red blood cells from the liver
  • It neutralizes toxins and waste products in the veins of the liver
  • It prevents toxins from entering the liver cells
  • It promotes liver regeneration and the formation of new healthy liver cells
  • In animals, it can even protect the liver against the intake of some medications (e.g. paracetamol), as well as alcohol
  • It improves bile production in the liver and cleanses the bile ducts in the liver
  • It supports the liver in its detoxification function, especially when combined with dandelion and artichoke

There is, however, a second, much more impressive study:

This study involved 72 fatty liver patients who took the active substance silymarin (also found in milk thistle) twice daily.

The study lasted 3 months and the subjects were regularly examined for key liver values.

The astonishing result: taking silymarin led to significant improvements in ALT, AST and gamma-GT values!

We remember: it is precisely these values that indicate a fatty liver.

Even according to ultrasound, the fatty liver of the subjects had improved.

Artichoke

Although milk thistle is very suitable for improving AST, ALT and gamma-GT values, no effect on cholesterol levels has yet been demonstrated.

For this reason, Oliver recommends another medicinal plant: the artichoke.

The artichoke can be used as a natural cholesterol lowering agent, as this study shows:

This study involved 143 adults who took artichoke leaf extract daily for 6 weeks.

The result: on average, the control group was able to lower their cholesterol levels by 18.5%.

The artichoke also has positive effects on digestion and bile. It improves bile flow and promotes the function of the pancreas.

Most impressive, however, was this study, which attributes a hepatoprotective effect to artichoke leaf extract .

This means that the artichoke protects liver cells and stimulates regeneration:

This study involved 100 people who had been diagnosed with fatty liver disease.

The subjects consumed artichoke leaf extract every day for 2 months.

The result: compared to the placebo group, which had not taken anything, the liver of the artichoke group had better blood flow and was smaller after 2 months.

This is exactly why Oliver's method works so well.

You actively regenerate and protect your liver instead of just eating low-fat.

The result: a healthy liver and better cholesterol, AST, ALT and gamma-GT levels.

“No diet in the world can match the power of artichokes and milk thistle,” Oliver said.

Dandelion root

Dandelion root with the active ingredient taraxacin is an absolute insider tip.

Dandelion root extract is also present in the capsules in the high ratio of 4:1.

Taraxacin activates the production of bile, which leads to better metabolism.

Bile plays an important role in the body's fat burning process .

The liver is connected to the gallbladder via the bile duct.

Bile is already produced in the liver.

This fluid is then transported via the bile duct to the gallbladder.

That's where the liquid is stored.

From the gallbladder, the fluid then enters the intestine, where it aids in digestion.

High-quality bile is important for optimal digestion, but also for proper fat processing.

If this is not present (for example due to a fatty liver), it can lead to problems with the digestion and processing of fats.

Or in short: the better the bile, the easier it is to “burn” excess fat .

In addition, thanks to the bitter substances it contains, it can also help with bloating, a feeling of fullness and heartburn.

And what about nutrition?

Oliver advised me to reduce my sugar consumption.

By adjusting your diet to reduce your sugar intake, you can prevent fatty liver from getting worse.

You don't have to completely give up sugar and carbohydrates.

However, Oliver recommends consuming no more than 50g of sugar per day.

Important: A liver detox should not be seen as a diet. It is not about torturing and starving yourself.

Instead, we aim for a balanced, normal diet.

The Fatty Liver Detox Method

To apply Oliver's method, you need to follow these steps:

1. Prevent fatty liver from getting worse by reducing your sugar consumption.

2. To regenerate the liver. For this you need milk thistle and artichoke.

3. Improve the bile. This works best with dandelion root.

The 3 Steps of the Fatty Liver Detox Method

Now you're probably wondering, " How many artichokes should I eat per day? "

That's exactly what went through my mind too.

I can give you the answer: You would have to eat dozens of artichokes to get enough of the active ingredient.

The same goes for milk thistle and dandelion root.

Luckily, Oliver had a super simple solution for that too.

Together with the European family business Greenleaf Blends, he developed the product Liver Detox Blend based on the studies.

It combines all the ingredients essential for liver health – and in the perfect dosage.

Oliver also explained to me why Liver Detox Blend is so different from all other preparations I had tried so far.

It is due to the exceptionally high concentration of the active ingredients.

While many products simply contain plant powder, Liver Detox Blend uses high-dose extracts.

The milk thistle seed extract in particular impressed me.

It is present in a 25:1 ratio – meaning it is 25 times more concentrated than the original plant.

It also contains 80% of the important active ingredient silymarin, which is precisely the substance that has shown such astonishing results in all those scientific studies.

“Many liver preparations on the market have far too little silymarin, but often cost three times as much,” Oliver explained to me.

“Always pay attention to the concentration of the extract – that makes the decisive difference. ”

The other active ingredients are also highly concentrated: The artichoke leaf extract is present in a 5:1 ratio, the dandelion root extract in a 4:1 ratio.

These concentrations are necessary so that the active ingredients can develop their full potential.

What also gave me a sense of security: Liver Detox Blend is regularly tested by an independent laboratory.

This is a very important factor, especially with liver preparations.

What surprised me most, however, was the unbeatable price advantage for us as users.

Who doesn't know it? Some expensive liver cure that costs more than £100 and where you have to order several boxes at once.

With the product Liver Detox blend it is different: A jar contains 60 capsules. You take two capsules per day.

One jar of Liver Detox blend is sufficient for a month liver treatment!

This is only £1.03 per day. To be honest, I even have more to spare for my health, as long as I get rid of the fatty liver disease, I thought.

There was also a discount on the 3-month treatment of up to £69! This works out at £0.76 per day.

Just under £0.88 per day for the chance to finally reach my desired weight and detox and cleanse my liver at the same time?

With ingredients based on scientific studies?

The choice was easy for me: this is more than worth a try.

My experiment with Liver Detox Blend begins

When my package of Liver Detox arrived, I was pleasantly surprised.

Instead of the usual cheap plastic jars, I held a high-quality bottle in my hand.

The intake was conceivably simple: Two capsules a day. That was all.

I immediately opted for the 3-month package.

Because Oliver had explained to me that liver regeneration takes time – it's a marathon, not a sprint.

The first positive changes already occurred after the first week.

The afternoon slump that had plagued me for years simply disappeared.

The constant feeling of fullness after eating had also disappeared.

After three weeks it got even better.

When I stepped on the scale, I could hardly believe my eyes:

2 kilos of memories!

The annoying bloated stomach that had plagued me for so long disappeared and even my skin looked fresher, which my husband noticed too.

But to make the experiment more exciting, after four months I had another major blood test done.

The result was astonishing!

My cholesterol was down to 190mg/DL, still high, but at least within the reference range.

The surprising thing, however, was the gamma-GT value, which 4 months ago still indicated a fatty liver.

My gamma-GT value dropped from 49 U/l to only 22 U/l.

In women, the value must absolutely be below 40 U/l.

AST and ALT are also slightly improved.

The biggest breakthrough, however, came after the second month.

What used to be a downward spiral now became an upward spiral:

Healthy liver –> more energy –> higher calorie consumption –> less body fat –> less fat on the liver

After 3 months I lost 10kg and have been able to maintain the weight since then.

The handbrake was finally released.

The best part, however, was that for the first time in years I felt like exercising again.

As if my body wanted to become active from within.

My liver felt better than it had ever felt before.

As you can see: I am completely convinced of Liver Detox blend.
